World-renowned, Maldon’s distinctive naturally-formed pyramid salt crystals have been hand-harvested and skilfully made in the UK town of Maldon using the same traditional artisan methods since 1882. Loved by chefs, cooks and gourmets worldwide, as well as by Queen Elizabeth II, our unique pyramid flakes continue to inspire to this day. Our natural and pure crystals are the go-to artisanal sea salt.
Since 1882, we’ve been hand harvesting our world famous salt in the UK town of Maldon.
Four generations of the Osborne family have been hand harvesting the naturally formed salt flakes that have become Maldon’s signature for over a century. Today, we’re not just custodians of an ancient culinary tradition but also creators of a brand that’s recognised the world over. We are proud to be hand-harvesting our gourmet, pyramid salt flakes in the coastal town of Maldon since 1882. Skilful hands are poised over every batch made, the same traditional artisan methods used for more than 140 years.
In 2010, we welcomed Queen Elizabeth II to our salt works in Maldon. Two years later, we were granted a Royal Warrant as official purveyors of sea salt.
We are also an associate member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, Britain’s leading professional association of Head Chefs, Pastry Chefs, Restauranteurs and suppliers, committed to the education and training of young people in the hospitality industry.
Maldon salt is made like no other, there’s an art in temperature and timing. A slow warmth uncovering the water’s secret, with skilled hands poised over every batch. Traditional methods and time honoured techniques passed down through the centuries make Maldon’s pyramid salt flakes unique.
Maldon Salt is a highly versatile ingredient, making it the perfect sea salt for cooking – simply pinch between finger and thumb and crumble over your food at any point in the cooking process for a burst of delicate flavour. Enjoyed worldwide, Maldon Salt has been hand-harvested in the UK town of Maldon since 1882. The choice of the passionate and the adventurous.
We recommend storing Maldon Salt in a cool, dry place. Containers such as a salt pig would be the ideal storage for your countertop, making it convenient to spoon or pinch over to your dishes.
